Proper care of your down comforter, down pillow and feather bed will ensure long lasting beauty and performance. Cleaning of down bedding is essential to maintaining maximum loft and ensuring the long life of the product. We recommend cleaning down pillows and down comforters every 3-5 years and always use pillow protectors, and duvet covers. Though it is possible to wash your own down product, we recommend that you have your product professionally cleaned by a service that specializes in cleaning down. Warranties are valid only if the product has been professionally cleaned. We are reluctant to recommend non-professional laundering because home washers and dryers are often too small. You should never wash your down comforter more than once a year. Shake to fluff comforter on a weekly basis. Occasionally air outside to keep smelling fresh. Spot clean small stains with a mild detergent and thoroughly dry area with a hand-held hair dryer. We recommend using a front-loading commercial washer and dryer, with cold water and your preferred mild detergent. Dry completely on a low setting to prevent mildew. Use down fluffers, or similar object, in the dryer to help evenly distribute the fill. Frequent washing may cause shell to become less downproof. Warm Things cannot be responsible for any damage that occurs as a result of home laundering.
Please note that down and feather materials have a natural smell to them that can be strong when the product is first removed from its packaging. Allow a few days for your down and feather product to air out and the natural smell will dissipate.
Additionally, down and feather products are tightly packaged for shipping purposes. When you first unpack your product it may appear flat. Please remove the item from its packaging and vigorously shake or fluff to fully restore the loft. It can take a few days to achieve maximum loft.
For best results, professional laundering is recommended.
We recommend you protect your investment from normal soiling by using a cotton protective cover. To maintain even distribution of the natural fill, re-fluff or shake as needed. You may machine wash using a commercial size front loading washer on the delicate cycle with warm water and mild detergent. Do not use bleach and do not use fabric softener. Air or fluff dry with no heat for a minimum of 2-3 cycles to insure the down fill is completely dry. Remove immediately when dryer stops.
